As in life, there are darker and lonelier streets and even with different decorations and views than in the central areas of the city, moments of light and shadow.
Each part of the city is different, each has its own peculiar characteristics. Some parts are more ostentatious and others more modest, it is part of the reality.
When I go walking I look around me and something different always catches my attention, even if I walk along the same streets.
Night walks are something I enjoy very much. And in the neighbourhood areas you can even sense the gloomy and even spooky, ideal for filming a horror movie. During daylight hours that same place looks very different. Maybe something else lives there that we don't see during the day.
Narrow alleys, illuminated by artificial light, but hiding shadows, intense shadows.
In other streets the cars sleep while the arrows indicate a road that they will have to follow the next day.
The sleeping city, the lonely streets, ideal for imagining mysterious stories or just thinking, thinking, without noise, places where silence and the encounter with oneself dwell.
The buildings await the light of the next day and the movements of the people around them.
But as I go on, the atmosphere changes, more lights, some people... those who are like me, who like night walks. What do you say, if there were dangers, would you like to go for a walk in the still and silent night?
The luxurious buildings, always imposing hotels in the most important streets, full of light and splendour.
Different shades of light, hiding the shadows or creating even more of them. The street lamps are always present, they are my walking companions. They tell me where to go and always surprise me.
The entrance to an old castle, with a lot of history, with an impressive façade and a lot of light to make it stand out even in the pitch dark.
A theatre in which there was life in another age and is now visited at hours when the sun illuminates it, but I see that nocturnal beauty of antiquity and its importance in the line of events.
On my tour, the castle gleams brightly over a large tunnel created below. Lights and shadows of the city in the same place or in different places. Lights and shadows of life.
Every now and then a statue comes to life in some hidden place, in forgotten streets that I meet on my route. I wonder if anyone is looking at them as I am right now.
The street lamps show me the way, and now it is time to return from this walk through the lights and shadows of the city and of life.
As in this walk, in existence there are dark moments when there seems to be no light but it is good to know that there will always be a streetlight to enlighten us, a person, an event, a word or the very art of yesteryear speaking to us.
Thank you all for watching and reading this far. I wish you a very good Sunday, until next time.
Amonet.
