Colour and black and white, two points of view and also the contrast that arises from mixing these types of photography, establishes something very interesting when working with photography.
I am happy to resume my tour of the art galleries, which have come back to life in January after the holidays. There is so much art in the city that I have to organise myself well so as not to miss any exhibitions, but even so, sometimes I can't go to some of them. That saddens me, but then the visits continue.
In recent weeks, whenever the rain has allowed, I have been to several exhibitions. On this occasion, at the El Ateneo gallery, one of my favourites, there was only one new exhibition, but it was really worth three.
It was a photography exhibition organised by the Malaga Photographic Society and was called XIII Exposición series. It took place from 7 to 30 January. I always love this gallery because it gives different artists with different techniques and styles the opportunity to show their work, but it also gives a lot of attention to photographic artists.
There were excellent black and white photographs, such as these ones I am showing you, where the architecture mixed with the sky and the surroundings made the contrasts striking. In this type of photo, as shown, where there are structures, there are always areas that stand out more and the light, on the other hand, stands out more strongly. The sky creates an interesting scale of greys. Overall, the series is wonderful.
Each photographer had a space where they grouped a series of photographs, and this group is one of the ones I liked the most; I would say it is my favourite. We have a black background with a bud or flower in shades of grey, where the white stands out in contrast to the black, and then an insect on that bud, but the insect is in very bright colours. I loved it. According to the author, it alludes to colourful carnivals. Rather, I see the emphasis on insects and the colour of life in motion.
The next group or series refers to photographs of bullfighters and the activity that goes with it. Some groups of photos had a phrase, in this case it says: Deceived, always brave, he goes to the call for the last time. I think it fits perfectly. Colour photographs with great movement.
The next series highlights the beauty of the past reflected in classic cars, and the photographs are truly beautiful, taking into account the striking details of cars from another era.
The photographs or series of photographs at sunset at the fair also took place mainly during activities carried out in the air. They are great shots.
The next group shows parallel lines or perhaps shadows of them, where I seem to see stairs or reflections of railings, bars, and allude to the despair that is always in search of a solution. They are interesting photographs as a whole.
It will always be wonderful to see birds, especially when they are flying in synchrony and so close to the water. I always think that you have to be in the right place at the right time to capture the scene and have a lot of patience.
This series is excellent. I'm not sure, but I think they are staged photographs rather than old photos, alluding to the mischief of children of that time and how it has carried over to our times. I love the children's expressions and the innocence and mischief they convey. The reflection and height of the photographs made them difficult to capture, but I managed to get something.
This set of photographs is about autumn, so I see that I work on them by showing that dark blue contrasting with the white. They try to talk about light and shadow as ephemeral. Interesting technique.
I spent a long time admiring many of the photos; there was variety and great photographic quality throughout. If you have a favourite series, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
Thank you very much for joining me today. I wish you all a very good Sunday. See you soon.
Amonet.
