It wouldn't be the same without them, the world on one side of the planet would be in darkness if they didn't exist.
They appear on the road like static fairies who watch us pass by on our evening strolls and when most people are asleep.
They illuminate our steps and create wonderful reflections on the shimmering, finely polished ground.
They are lined up pointing a way forward, but I like to stray and look at their different perspectives, what they want to illuminate, who they want to help or perhaps what signal they want to give.
Looking at the sky, so dark, so black, they allow me to see certain glimmers in the immensity of the night.
Some of them are decorated with flowers, whose colour stands out from the rest of the environment and creates a unique composition.
The distance between them creates, both between the buildings and on the ground, places of light and places of shadow, that contrast of light and shadow that creates the relief, the life, the 3D, what emerges. That amazes me, to see both those shining places and those dark places with a hidden and well-kept mystery.
The light allows people to walk safely, seeing where they are going, but also being able to admire the beautiful surroundings.
From time to time the lampposts are accompanied by another type of lighting and they talk to each other, they talk about us humans. They look at us, listen to us and accompany us in our night walk... taking care of us.
The shadows remain on the windows leaving the necessary space for those who rest, but knowing that outside there will be the light that will be there for them when they wake up.
The seats are empty, waiting for the day that will come later, when the street lamps go to sleep.
A nocturnal butterfly spies me behind a lamppost, shy it seems, because no one has seen it until my eyes discovered it, thanks to the light.
Sculptures glow in the night and can come to life, know where they are going and then return to their place thanks to that light. The light that is necessary to see the path, the real path.
I took these pictures on a night walk I did on Marqués de Larios street, the most important street in the city.
A walk there at night is really magical, there is a lot of peace in the air, but above all mystery and beauty.
During the day this street is full, absolutely full of hustle and bustle, which makes it practically impassable, you can't walk because there are so many people there.
But at night, it seems to be the same street, but on another planet, it is a pleasure to walk along it and you see things very differently, as when you change your focus.
Life is made up of light and shadow and even in the darkest night, if you look hard enough, you can find the light and magic of ..... The streetlights.
Thank you all very much for watching and reading this far, best regards to all of you and see you next time.
Amonet.
