As I have already said, this time the Summer Garden was gradually sinking into the evening deep shadows. The sun was setting from the Neva River and we were gradually moving towards it.
I have already mentioned that this garden has been redone. The sculptures you see here are beautiful, but they are not originals. These are very high-qualit, but copies. The originals themselves are kept in one of the museums of the city.
After the alteration, several fountains appeared in the garden. It's nice, but it was good without them. Although, according to the creators of the garden, there was once a fountain here and its remains were discovered during restoration work.
I was lucky with the light. The rays of the setting sun gave a soft almost studio light. Look at these soft shadows on the face of the sculptures.
And here is a whole pond for ducks and some other birds. It didn't fit entirely into one frame and I had to take a series of pictures and glue them together during post-processing.
We are approaching the Neva. The light is getting more and more. And fountains are also concentrated in this part of the garden. But there are also narrow passages fenced with a green fence... I can't stand fences, even like this. They're stealing space and freedom.
And here is the famous lattice of the Summer Garden. During the siege of Leningrad, we were offered to sell it in exchange for food. But the city has kept it. This is the part of the lattice relating to the entrance to the garden in the rays of the setting sun.
It's nice to get out of fences and shadows into the light. We'll take another walk here next time.
