Do you know what a well-yard is? This is when you look out of the window and see a blank wall or the same window opposite... right under my nose. I do not know what the architect's thoughts were, perhaps rooms with such windows or without windows served as utility rooms or there was another need (for example, to keep warm), but in St. Petersburg in the old part of the city such courtyards are not uncommon.
Today, after a long period of rains, the sun came out and we went for a walk in the center. Of course, I could not pass by such courtyards...
Some of them look pretty decent, they have been renovated and they are closed with bars. You can't just get into them. Sometimes there is even a guard booth and a guard.
But I am more interested in really old courtyards with traces of time and partial destruction.
There are corners that you won't get into right away. They can be found by chance and it is not a fact that you will find them next time. Therefore, I record everything with a camera for memory. Soon they will be repaired, and the Spirit of the time will leave them.
I hope that they will remain in my archives for a long time.
