The large avenue of Vasilevsky Island in St. Petersburg is indeed quite large. It crosses almost the entire island in length and is quite wide in itself. In addition to the main roadway, there are two more passages along the houses, the so-called "pockets". What I like about this avenue is that you can always find a parking space.
This avenue is crossed by all 30 Lines of the island and from one of these intersections we will begin our walking tour.
The "pockets" are separated from the main roadway by a fairly wide green area, which can even be called a small park. There is always a calm atmosphere here.
This small park is fenced with bars and used to belong to a children's hospital. This building is not currently being renovated and the park is closed.
This is a monument to firefighters against the backdrop of a fire bell tower. A very dynamic storyline. People of this profession deserve such a monument.
Some houses are quite dilapidated, they are demolished and new ones are built in this place. It is difficult for me to say whether it was possible to restore these houses or whether the owner of the construction site simply had too much money and the necessary connections with officials. It's not always the same. But the work behind the fence is in full swing and soon we will see its result.
I never entered this little chapel. Often it is simply closed. But she looks good.
I really liked the view with these trees. Combination of graphics and street. As you can see from the clothes, it's not hot at all. But the sun makes all the difference.
Did you recognize the hero who stands on the pedestal? This is Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Contradictory, but certainly a strong personality in history. His ideas essentially changed the world. The fact that his monuments in some countries and cities (even in Russia itself) are sometimes demolished is ordinary ignorance and disrespect for history. The past cannot be changed, but it must be remembered and kept in mind when making decisions today.
From the crossroads we started today's journey, and here we will complete it. Hope you enjoyed this walk.
