With the approach of winter, snow and frost, I remember summer more and more often. On the other hand, I also want to see snowy landscapes, they have their own soft charm. But today there is no snow, but there are archives with memories. And our memories will be of summer.
There are no palm trees growing in my city (Saint Petersburg, Russia). They just can't stand the freezing winter. And that's why we ended up in sunny Abkhazia. I have been there several times and each time we visited a New Athos. And now we are in his city park.
These are the waters of the Psyrtskha River. About 200 years ago, monks made a dam on this mountain river. A man-made waterfall and a system of ponds were formed after it. A city park with lush southern vegetation and swans is organized here.
But I want to see the sea.
These beaches are more like wild ones and I like it.
There are no crowds of people pushing each other and fighting for a place in the sun. There are places where there is no one at all and that's fine.
I know one single road that runs along the sea along the entire coast. Several roads depart from it deep into the mountains, but the asphalt surface quickly ends.
Cows are very respected here. And cows really like to visit the roads. Maybe they just rest out of the blue from the rocks and thorns under their feet. Drivers immediately slow down and carefully go around them... a sacred animal, like in India.
Of all the trees, I am most impressed by the huge eucalyptus trees. In calm weather, you can enjoy a wonderful healing aroma. Free inhalation.
By the way, it is not necessary to look for 5-star hotels. You can use a tent camp right on the seashore.
Here, the domes of the New Athos Monastery are buried among the greenery. But it deserves a separate description. Some other time.
