Ellie-Mae and "Bomber"
Over the past couple of weeks I've been cleaning up my hard drives. I'm a very lazy editor, and any image I import I tend to keep. You know, just in case. Well, I decided it was time to knuckle down and sort out these images. In my folders I have CR2 (Canon raw files) and tifs, plus edited tifs and jpgs for social media. So, as well as getting rid of duplicate files, I've pretty much been checking each image. Any that I won't use, because they are either technically bad or I just don't like them, have been binned.
A walk in the woods
I've already freed up so much space, it really made me think that I need to be more organised in the future. If I did it when I import it would be a lot more efficient. The main issue that I have is that as I am going through all of these images and folders, I am finding images that I like and editing (or in some cases re-editing as obviously if you are editing frequently your editing skills improve and the software gets better and better).
Ellie-Mae and her ride
These images were shot for a small independent country store in Lincolnshire. The lady that owns the store is somebody I have worked with before and was introduced to her by Ellie-Mae. The horse (I can't remember if its name was "Bomber" or whether it was Bomber's brother. Not that it matters to anyone other than the owner of both the horse and the country store.
Country fashion
These images were shot and used for advertising back in 2019 and were a bit of a nightmare to edit. I wasn't able to use any sort of flash as we obviously didn't want to spook the horses. It was nearly noon on a bright (very bright) spring day (in fact literally just over four years ago). So the light was really harsh, we had some really awful shadows and some unpleasant contrasts. I think I managed to soften the light enough on these. Thankfully, both Ellie-Mae and the country store owner were happy with the results.
About me:
I can mostly be found shooting models, aviation, motorsports and, when I can, wildlife. But I enjoy most aspects of photography. You can find more of my work on the links below.
