Lauren in black and white
I tend to pick up random stuff that I think I could use in a shoot at some stage. So when a model friend offered me this wedding dress, I jumped at the chance. It's been in storage for a couple of years, until I was talking to Lauren, and we decided to do a bridal themed shoot. But with a slight difference,
Thinking
I picked Lauren up and we drove to the location, a reservoir in Yorkshire. As we pulled up in the car park, the heavens opened. But, being the trooper she is, Lauren just said "let's do this".
Just Lauren in a wedding dress
We had to trek through some woods, climb over a wall and then make our way over some very wet and very slippery rocks. Because of the weather I decided to leave my lights in the car and travel as light as possible. The conditions didn't really improve that much, and the very grey, drab lighting meant that I need to ramp up the ISO. I consequently got a lot of grain in the shots. I managed to clean up some of the noise in post, but, if I'm honest, I thought the grain did add to the atmosphere, the "vibe" of the shoot.
Imagining what could have been
There is no way Lauren could have made it to the waters edge from the car in the wedding dress, so we had to lug it with us (just how big are wedding dresses) and get changed when we got to the rocks. That proved to be nearly as much fun as the shoot itself. Grace and modesty went out of the window. Lauren was a total pro though and we managed to get (what we feel) are decent shots. I also wanted to try editing in different ways. Quite happy. What do you think?
