One of the largest Zoo's in the world, at least to my knowledge has to be San Diago Zoo. One that really does require a whole day to visit and is situated on multiple levels. It even has a cable car to get from one side to the other!
Birds
I remember visiting one of the aviaries and was so excited to meet this little one! I'd never seen a Humming Bird before in my life and to see it do its thing was more than I could ever ask for!
White-crested hornbill
Hooded pitta
The plumage on the two above was something else. Birds just have some of the most iridescent colouring to their feathers that just make them stand out so much.
Red Panda
By and far one of the animals I have a lot of trouble managing to take a photo of, at least if the ones in Edinburgh and DC are to go by! is the Red Panda!
But by pure stroke of luck I managed to meet this one when they were feeling a little peckish :)
Giant Panda
Often considered the stars of the zoo world, at least going by the queue times to visit them. It was one where I found getting the right image of them just wasn't happening. It was either difficult eating of bum shots of them climbing down or up a tree!
See, the bum shot was not a lie 😂
Gorilla
I've heard it said that animals are unable to convey emotions through facial expressions, but if that is the case, then sure never felt like it with this Gorilla. It just felt like something was on their mind, having them deep in thought.
But in complete contrast, with this young Gorilla, this one just was full of joy and playfulness.
Anyhow this was just a small selection of who you could meet if you ever visit San Diago Zoo. One I have been lucky to visit on more than one occasion.
