After 2 years of weirdness for our underground.cafe things are finally moving. This weekend we had 3 "alternative" bands. I put alternative in punctuation because i am not even sure what alternative means. If it means things that you will not see in our mainstream media then there is a lot alternative music as our mainstream is generally recycling the same old same old.
If you live in a big city there are a lot of places where you can see this kind of bands playing. Problem with small towns is that you don't have enough of the audience that will come to listen a band that they know nothing about. That makes owners of clubs not willing to risk spending money and not being able to if nothing then brake even. And unfortunately that makes a weird cycle of nothing new happening in small towns.
There are some ideas by Nemanja from Short Reports to try and change that. This weekend was a nice one. We will see how it will evolve.
Now back to the stuff i kinda know what i am talking about. Photography.

- First on the stage were Grizete and you can check out their music here: Grizete
Light was yet a again my favorite Led stage reflectors. I will for sure never love them, but i kinda started to coup with them :D The main problem is that they have a very bright spot in the middle (almost like a focused beam) and the spread around it is like 5 stops lower. So the main goal is to catch people when they are a bit off the light. And sometimes it is possible and it works :D

Or you go to the other side and accept that the far side will be blown out, but you will not see it that much. Drummers were yet again out of luck as there was almost no light getting to them.

You can see how the guitar player is blasted with light in the chest. And the difference of the light on the singers face and the shirt of a guitar player. And i did a bit of pulling out from the RAW file.

When there is a 4 people band and the drummer has almost no light on him/her then he is out of luck of getting few nice photos and you as a photographer will be happy with other photos that you got :) But what do you do when a band has two members and one of them is a drummer? Then you embrace the noise and grain :D

And that is where newer cameras come to the rescue. Photographing this with my Canon 600D would not be an option. ISO of 6400 was MAX ISO and results would be, well, bad. With Canon R6 i can say that i am almost happy with it :)
