I would not even call it an evolution, because in my case it probably did not evolve a lot :) My photo stile changed but not sure that i did a lot in the lightpainting world. Few days ago i posted some Light painting photos and got into some talks with about those photos that you though were super cool when you made them but then you look at them now :)
I must say that i did some curation so few really cringe were not included.
This one is probably my favorite LightPainting (fire painting) photo. It is done somewhere in the middle of my photo journey. It was a lot of fun, my friend did not burn in flames. It need some research, one old sweatshirt was sacrificed, some alcohol was burned.
This is how it started. I am not even sure what light did i use. I know it was taken with Canon Powershot A590. From the time i found out about light painting i liked it. Probably because it gives you a look that you can see only if you do long exposure and paint with light.
Then i got my first DSLR and a tripod. Yes i thought this photo is supper cool.
After that i discovered lightning with flashlights and long exposure. My old Fiesta was not the best subject and my technique was not spot on :D
As you can see i did it some. Mostly not great.
This i thought is a really smart idea. Stop move stop. I thought i could do it as a one take. But it is a composite of static red light and some long exposure green light moving the camera.
I kinda still like this one. Could be done better, but i like the moving swings.
Flashlight lightning was still a cool thing for me at the moment here. A bit over the top.
Then i discovered small led lights. And the idea of painting with them. You can see all my drawing talent here :) That was like coolest photo ever when i made it :)
The fascination with led light painting continued. My old Fiesta ended up on the graveyard and a new model was here.
somewhere in this journey i did run across steel wool thing. Did this one shot and never used it again. Not sure why.
Then for some time i did no light painting. This year (beginning of it) i stumbled upon my old led lights and thought it would be cool to do something with them. I do like the feel of the photo, i even don't hate myself as a subject but my light paint is crap :D
And this is the photo from few days ago :)
Tools for light painting evolved in crazy terms. From sticks that you can program and make digital projections, to all kind of brushes. I was even looking for some, but kinda can't justify investing (as there are some crazy prices) to do few photos a year (not that i did not buy things that just collect dust). And it is a bit hard to even find them here.
I know there is are some really cool light painters here on Hive, so if any of you have some ideas of what to buy and not pay a kidney for it, feel free to share in the comments.
