So after the first fail i went on another run. And i learned why everything was out of focus. It is the new tech that has failed me. On older lenses when you put our lens on manual, it stays in place as long as you don't move the ring. On these new lenses if you turn off the camera lens goes to some kind of default position.
And as a real amateur lighpainter that i am, i was using the built-in intervalometer set on infinity number of photos. And to stop it from taking photos i just turn it off, because i don't know is there a different way. And i don't have a remote trigger (i do, i just didn't test it on R6, no idea is it working). So when i stopped it for the first time by turning the camera off, everything after that was out of focus :D
Anyone know how to stop the built-in intervalometer and not turning off the camera?
So back to RL-30SL Rgb Led Stick Light. You can see that manufacturer really took its time to name this product. RL-30SL, how inspiring. I think the 30 in the name is the length of the light, 30cm.
Comparing it to Godox tube lights, the plastic feels a bit cheaper (i have Godox TL60) on RL-30SL light, but not that much. Godox has a display to show you mods you are in and strength. RL-30SL has 6 buttons. That is it. I would guess that Godox is also brighter, judging by the one i have (it is double the size but much much brighter). I don't even know how to do scientific light accuracy, but i would say Godox is most probably more accurate in light representation.
But Godox is 130$ and RL-30SL is 9$
Buttons are decent. One useful thing they did is giving a dedicated button for Daylight/Warm Color and another one to circle through all the other colors and modes. Daylight/Warm Color mode is much stronger than all the others. The RGB is not strong enough for any filming use. It would probably work as a light in the background on a shelf or something.
But for lightpainting it works pretty well. It is light, colors look ok. I was doing this for over an hour and after that filmed some video on full power and the battery was still not empty (there is no indicator, so no idea how close to empty it was)
Two buttons are just for Power up and Power down. One is for Turning it on and off, and the last one is the music/sound option. I think it circles modes and flashes with the sound. I just clicked it to see if it works. It did.
Overall RL-30SL Rgb Led Stick Light exceeded my expectations. I will have to use it for a while to see how the battery will hold after some time, but it looks like i will have some fun with it.
