I remember from my youth, I remember being young once. I was not too fond of the seaside resorts before the tourist season started.
I love the sea. I have a passion for the sea amplified by the fact that I only see it a few times a year, sometimes not at all. I live far away from the sea and only meet the sea on longer or shorter summer holidays, or rather on the long holidays of my youth which are now getting shorter.
Longing for the sea has led me to take a few trips outside the summer season. I was disappointed by how the sea looked, actually not the sea, I mean the beach and the resorts looked. Everything is deserted and grey and looks like a landscape from apocalyptic movies...
I have decided not to travel to the sea until the season starts. I refer to the climate in Romania, with four seasons and a sea season from June to September.
All this happened many years ago. Now the situation has changed.
I got older and the climate warmed up and because of this, I had to look for another time to go to the sea. Out of season!
I must confess now that I was wrong.
I like the sea more outside the summer season now.
This year we made two trips to the sea, in the same place, Balchik, Bulgaria, the first at the end of January and the other at the beginning of May. I had a wonderful time on both of these short holidays. In January it was warmer than it should have been and in May it was cooler, the temperature difference between the two months was only a few degrees. Unthinkable years ago in my youth. The warming climate is so obvious and of course, it favors the change in travel habits that I had.
What does the sea mean to me now? Rest, relaxation, walking, and lots of photos.
I'll continue with photos taken on my two seaside getaways this year.
January
For the first time at sea in winter, in January. There should have been snow... No way! The hotel's outdoor pool seems to be crying for water.
Our first friend at Lighthouse Golf&Spa, the hotel also open in winter, was a cat.
I tried to catch the sunrise.
It wasn't (in my photos) as spectacular a sunrise as I would have liked.
We were only there for three days and then had to say goodbye to our cat friend.
May
Four months later we met our friend again.
If the cat had not accompanied us further from the pool in January, now he would have gone with us to the cliff's edge.
Although it was sunny the temperature was slightly higher than in January. There was no upset. We didn't come for the sea bathing or the beach.
We loved discovering the beauties in the grass...
The wife was happy to pick a bunch of wildflowers as she used to do as a child in her mountain village.
The sea was blue thanks to the blue sky and gave us the view we missed as soon as we left.
January - May
Colour difference!
I loved the sea in winter and in spring, and I know I'll be back here this fall.
Will I see the sea again in summer?
