The place is crowded - very very crowded. The moment you land, jeep drivers approach and nearly teleport you to a shop from which they get commission. The key word to look out for is the miniature Taj Mahal visit :-)
Its a steep walk to the top of the hill to get the majestic view of the mountains and the fort. There is a beautiful, elegant, massive palace inside the fort. One will be chased by around 200 guides, all claiming to be approved by government to give you a slice of the history in a platter. (Advice: act blind, deaf and mute to avoid them!).
Below the fort and the palace, there is an ancient village with houses, buzzing streets, many ruined villages, a step well and much more.
Here are few photos from that world:
[A temple which looks like restored to certain extend]
[Step wells - these were used to collect and store rain water and is a feature of many forts in Rajasthan]
[A lady carrying gober/cow dung]
[Cow dung getting dried to be used as fuel - its a common use cases in North India]
[A quick snapshot of the ruined temple]
[Horses probably taken to a wedding procession ... Just another normal day and normal sight]
