I wish I had explored the other side of the country under better circumstances. It was during the darkest period of my life; the longest 3 months of smiling through the pain. It was spontaneous and reckless, just piled into the car with no plan in mind... Because of this, the exact locations of these photos are up in the air, however they each have a story to tell.
The gas station with two grizzly bear statues, the first "landmark" that signified our arrival into British Columbia. I am fairly certain this was in Revelstoke.
(This was my reaction 😬)
We left the gas station, and our first glimpse of the British Colombian mountains happened to take place while we were driving.
The first park that we stopped at in British Columbia. I was even fortunate enough to witness a Huron bird grooming itself by the water...
The first lake we stopped at (and that's honestly about all I remember)
I remember there were tons of summer festivities going on where I took this photo. A children's park, shaped like a pirate's ship, along with a skatepark, and multiple people walking their dog along the water.
The first trail that we stopped at. I don't recall too much about this one, only that the bench in this photo was dedicated to someone who had passed away.
A strange location.. For some reason, there were model cabins out on the water, I believe to replicate the way people used to live by the river.
While stopping to stretch our legs and figure out where we were headed next, we came across this 1950s diner. We didn't go inside, but there was an old, pink convertible car cutout. I already deleted those memories.
It was at this park that we made our first friends in British Columbia: "Gingy" and Ashley. They overheard us talking, realized we were from out of province, and began chatting up with us! I'll never forget what Gingy said: "I just knew there was something different about you guys."
Our first night in Vancouver! 😃 Lots of sights to take in, but we found the people awfully snobby 😅 British Columbia is wonderful to visit -- but I wouldn't live there!
I don't remember too much, only that we were spending the day with Gingy and Ashley, found some graffiti, and I wanted to take a picture of the sunset.
It was here that I realized that I was already ready to go back home...
