I must say that I am disappointed to discover that there is no group on here that is purely dedicated to tattoos! Perhaps I will have to start one of my own someday. So, for now, I have decided to post some of my favorite gems in the Photography Group. I hope this is okay!
The first tattoo I ever had done was at the ripe age of 19. It started out small: one tiny tattoo! However, the obsession--the addiction--quickly took over. Within a month of getting my first tattoo, I was already getting another one. By the time I was 6 months in, I was already at several tattoos! When people tell you that ink addiction is real, they aren't joking! 😱
Anyway, I am now 27 and have just over 12 tattoos. Most of them are small, some are symbolic, a few were done simply because they looked cool! 😂 In fact, more are being planned for the future! In the meantime, however, here are just a few of my favorite tattoos~
For anyone familiar with Pokémon, this should be an easy one to identify! 😁 This is Cubone, the Lonely Pokémon, and the reasoning for why it is referred to as such is because it pines for the deceased mother it will never see again. This one is personal to me. I had an eggshell relationship with my own mother. Often times I felt abandoned by her, so I instantly felt a likeness to this Pokémon. Thankfully, I am happy to say that my mother is alive and well! And we have since rekindled our relationship.
This one is also personal to me. Note the banner that reads, "The Past Should Stay Dead." I received this tattoo during a time when I was tired of being angry all the time, tired of dealing with grudges. I didn't want people's hurtful actions to have control over my life--or worse, control over my mind. There truly is no use in dwelling over past actions; this is a reminder to myself to let it die 🙏
If you've ever watched the show Avatar: The Last Airbender, this one may also look familiar to you! This design is based off of the spirit koi fish at the Northern Water Tribe oasis. Known as the Ocean and Moon Spirits, the two koi fish represent yin and yang. They are opposites, yet they are both needed in order to achieve balance. Masculine and feminine, "good" and "evil," life and death..
Another Avatar: The Last Airbender inspired tattoo. The writing reads, "If you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see." This is another reminder to myself to stop focusing on the negative, quit being a victim! You give what you get--if you give the universe negativity, then that is what you will receive in return! It's impossible to be positive all the time, but every time I see this tattoo on my arm, it gets a little easier!
