On the way from Athens to the Temple of Poseidon along the Greek coast, our driver made several stops for us. Although the trip by auto is just 90 minutes, the driver purposefully stopped for photo opportunities. Now, that's great service!
This first shot was taken at the Port of Varkiza. It was mostly deserted on this comfortable March day. The skies were clear, the sun bright and warm. The water was brisk by Greek standards, but being from a cold climate, I found it just fine.
Here in Palaia Fokaia, a small weathered memorial stands guard over the Aegean Sea. I wish I knew more about this marker. Whether a grave, or something of some other religious significance, it remains a mystery to me.
Here, near Vari, a simple photo capturing the sun, sea, and rocky coastline of the Cape Sounion promontory.
Cheers!
