South Rim, Grand Canyon Village, Arizona.

This time I take you back to a special adventure from 2021 at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. During a trip to Las Vegas, I found a tour that offered me the chance to embark on a new journey. I didn’t think twice—me and my old Nikon D3300 (one of my first cameras that opened the doors to photography for me) grabbed our backpack and headed out.

We had a journey ahead of around 450 km (280 miles), taking about 4.5 to 5 hours, under a burning heat I had never experienced in my life. The landscapes along the way kept changing, it felt like something straight out of Breaking Bad.

Along the way, we made an unexpected stop—I didn’t know it was part of the tour: the Area 51 Alien Center. A completely surreal place, with fluorescent green walls, alien mannequins, and signs talking about UFOs and government secrets. The last thing I expected to find in the middle of the desert!

After several hours, we finally arrived at the South Rim, the most famous and visited part of the Grand Canyon.
I remember the very first step toward the viewpoint. It’s hard to describe the feeling of seeing it for the first time. A silence falls over everything. Watching the river carve its way through the stone—a scene sculpted by water over millennia—was something I’ll never forget.
The ravens, the squirrels, the wind sweeping across the canyon, the vastness, the peace I felt there. A place that stays with you forever.

(Esp) Hola comunidad de fotógrafos , en esta ocasión vuelvo al pasado para mostrar una aventura del 2021 en el Gran Cañón de Arizona, en un viaje a las Vegas, encontré un tour el me ofrecía la oportunidad de emprender una nueva aventura yo y mi antigua Nikon d3300 (una de mis primeras cámaras que me abrieron el mundo de la fotografía), no dudamos ni un segundo cogimos mochila y nos fuimos para allá.

Nos esperaba un viaje de aproximadamente 450 km (280 millas), entre 4 horas y media a 5 horas, un calor abrazador que nunca en mi vida habia sentido, el camino iba cambiando durando el trayecto , parecía sacado de la serie Breaking Bad,

En el camino hicimos una parada no sabia que era parte del tour pero era el Área 51 Alien Center. Un lugar de locos literalmente, con un verde fosforescente, muñecos alienígenas y carteles que hablaban de ovnis y secretos del gobierno. Era lo ultimo que pensaba encontrarme en medio del desierto.

Tras varias horas, al fin llegamos al Borde Sur (South Rim), la zona más famosa y visitada del Gran Cañón. Recuerdo el primer paso hacia el mirador. Es difícil describir lo que se siente al verlo por primera vez. Es un silencio que lo cubre todo. Como se ve recorrer el rio sobre las rocas forjadas por el agua es un lugar que nunca voy a olvidar los cuervos las ardillas, el silencio el viendo recorriendo el lugar la paz que pude encontrar.

(Eng) Before leaving Nevada behind, we made a brief stop at the impressive Hoover Dam. This gigantic structure, built between reddish mountains, holds back the flow of the Colorado River.

(Esp) Antes de dejar atrás Nevada, hicimos una breve parada en la imponente Presa Hoover (Hoover Dam). Esta gigantesca estructura construida entre montañas rojizas detiene el flujo del río Colorado

(Eng) It was impressive to see the crows perched on the trees and rocks — I had never come across them before. In my city in Peru, they don’t exist, so they captivated me, and I tried to capture as many photos of them as I could.

(Esp) Es impresionante ver los curvos posados en los árboles y en las rocas nunca me había topado con ellos en mi vida en Perú no se encuentran en mi ciudad me cautivaron y traté de sacarles las fotografías que pude.

(Eng) Despite the unbearable heat, vegetation pushes through with strength in the midst of this arid desert, reminding us that life always finds a way to bloom.

(Esp) A pesar del calor insoportable , la vegetación se abre paso con fuerza en medio de este desierto árido, recordándonos que la vida siempre encuentra la manera de florecer.

(Eng) To end, I can only say that seeing the Grand Canyon from above is one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. The vastness, the silence, and the peace you feel there are hard to put into words. I hope that through my photos, you can feel a bit of what I felt that day. Thank you for joining me in this memory

(Esp) Gran Cañón desde lo alto es una de las experiencias más increíbles que he podido experimentar. La inmensidad, el silencio y la paz que se respiran ahí son difíciles de poner en palabras.
