Eight months ago I posted an entry about the following plant in the photographs which is of the genus
Phthirusa; a hemiparasite. I have found its fruits on fertile soil, and its seeds on concrete flooring, iron bar, and aluminum television antenna.
Hace 8 meses publiqué una entrada sobre la siguiente planta en las fotografías que es del género Phthirusa; una hemiparásita. He encontrado sus frutos sobre suelo fértil, y sus semillas sobre piso de concreto, cabilla de hierro y antena para televisor de aluminio.
One way the seeds are propagated is by birds. The fruit, which contains a seed covered with a sticky substance, is consumed by birds. Birds perch anywhere and by defecating anywhere, the undigested seeds adhere to a plant, or in the case of the following photographs to iron bars.
Una forma de propagación de las semillas es mediante las aves. El fruto, que contiene una semilla cubierta de una sustancia pegajosa, es consumido por las aves. Las aves se posan en cualquier parte y al defecar en cualquier lugar, las semillas no digeridas se adhieren a una planta, o en el caso de las siguientes fotografías a cabillas de hierro.
What can be seen in the following photograph are the remains of bird droppings.

In the same place of the previously captured photographs, some seeds fell on the concrete floor, and the remarkable thing is that although the seeds germinated developing the sucker whose purpose is to absorb nutrients, in a short time their development culminates because they did not fall in the right place.

Although some of the places mentioned are curious for the germination of a seed, in most cases, although germination begins, a seedling does not develop. The curious place of natural germination of a seed of the genus Phthirusa was on the leaf of a banana plant (Musa AAA), where a seedling did develop.
Aunque algunos de los sitios mencionados son curiosos para la germinación de una semilla, en la mayoría de los casos, aunque da inicio su germinación no se desarrolla una plántula. El sitio curioso de germinación natural de una semilla del género Phthirusa fue sobre la hoja de una planta de cambur (Musa AAA), donde si se desarrolló una plántula.
The banana plant fell and I did not take any more photographs, it would have been interesting to see how far the seedling would have developed. However, if the banana had not fallen, a limiting factor in the development of the seedling would have been the fall of the banana leaf.
La planta de cambur se cayó y no capturé más fotografías, hubiese sido interesante apreciar hasta donde se hubiera desarrollado la plántula. No obstante, si no se hubiese caído el cambur, una limitante en el desarrollo de la plántula habría sido la caída de la hoja de cambur.
