I'm not going to lie to you, this last trip to Havana I didn't find what I expected. I had to make the most of my ability to take the good out of the bad so as not to feel bad.
Why? Well, because the garbage in the streets, and everywhere else, has reached very depressing levels. The beggars and crazy people harassing tourists are more and more every day. I always get mistaken for a foreigner, I think it's because of the way I dress, I don't know, but it's very uncomfortable.
The bad smell was something that did not go unnoticed, and the worst thing is that I am not talking about an intricate neighborhood of Havana, but the historic center of the city, where everyone goes to walk and feed the pigeons.
Even so, my focus was all the time on accepting that this is the reality of my country, even if it hurts me. Accept, try to find something beautiful among so much chaos, there always is of course, but it is impossible to ignore how everything has changed in just one year, and not in the best way.

No te voy a mentir, este último viaje a La Habana no encontré lo que esperaba. Tuve que exprimir al máximo mi capacidad de sacar lo bueno de lo malo para no sentirme mal.
¿Por qué? Pues porque la basura en las calles, y en todas partes, ha llegado a niveles muy deprimentes. Los mendigos y locos acosando a los turistas, cada día son más. A mí siempre me confunden con extranjera, creo que es por mi forma de vestir, no sé, pero es muy incómodo.
El mal olor, era algo que tampoco pasaba por desapercibido, y lo peor es que no te hablo de un barrio intrincado de La Habana, sino del pleno centro histórico de la ciudad, a donde van todos a caminar y dar de comer a las palomas.
Aun así, mi foco estuvo todo el tiempo en aceptar, así es la realidad de mi país, aunque me duela. Aceptar, intentar encontrar algo bello entre tanto caos, siempre lo hay por supuesto, pero es imposible ignorar cómo ha cambiado todo en tan solo un año, y no de la mejor manera.
