A somewhat specific landmark of the Saratov region is the Red Bridge. It was built in 1901. Many events took place near this bridge. The most famous is the execution of 47 Red Army soldiers in August 1918. According to another version, these Red Army soldiers were thrown off the bridge onto bayonets installed below. Which of these versions is true can no longer be determined. There are what look like bullet holes on the bridge supports. But the version with bayonets most likely did not appear out of nowhere. They also say that fierce battles of the civil war took place here.
