I've been noticing the flowers popping up slowly over the last week or two, thinking they were nuts because there was still snow on the mountain. It just goes to show, that sometimes, Mother Nature knows better than we do, what is going on or even what we need.
It was just a few days ago that I witnessed this explosion of colour all over our West Coast landscape and it is truly something to behold.
Most tourists and even locals prefer to take their holidays in the warmer waters of the Indian ocean seaboard on the Eastern Side of our country. The land is lush, and full of forests. It is truly magnificent.
But once a year, the West Coast just goes totally wild and all the flowers that have been sleeping all year, come up to say hello. It has happened to me a few times where I've promised myself I'll stop and take photos, and the very short window will have passed us by. This exquisite display only lasts about a month until the beginning of summer hits and the flowers turn to seed, ready for their next annual show.
It makes me want to just get out of my car and roll around in them. And believe me, I would, if it wasn't for my knee (and those mole holes, hundreds of bees and the possibility of snakes... lol). All these photos were taken by at two of the most prolific sites in our neighborhood.
The further up the coast you go, the bigger the variety. It's really worth the drive. I've done it a few times with my mom, a flask of tea and some biscuits.
