Rome is a wonderful, lively city, full of culture and works of art. Wherever the gaze is oriented, an artistic work emerges from a wall, from a hidden alley or from a tile of the road pavement. It is truly amazing how beautiful the city is and walking around at night reveals a different, mysterious and equally fascinating side.
At night, when most of the people are now inside their homes or in the multitude of clubs in Rome, the city is ready to give images of a city that offers much more than you can imagine. The lights of the city and of the buildings highlight many details that paradoxically are less evident during the day or offer other food for thought.
The city is almost deserted on these rainy evenings and is perfect for venturing between or monuments and stopping to observe them, also photographing scenes that would be impossible during the day due to the crowds that throng all the historical and cultural points of Rome.
Even the traffic of cars and means of transport has significantly decreased, an advantage for hearing because it allows me to listen to the many pleasant sounds, such as that of the water of large and small fountains.
Rome really has many fountains and the most famous is the Trevi Fountain, a truly impressive marble work of art that portrays the statue of Ocean driving the shell-shaped chariot, pulled by the angry horse and the placid horse, held back by two newts. Then there are other scenes of soldiers and other statues that allude to legendary characters, gods of water and abundance.
It is impressive how huge the fountain is and how complex and elaborate the marble facade is, whose protagonists really seem so real, as if they wanted to involve you in the work. It is the habit of many tourists and not only, to throw a coin into the tub and make a wish. Honestly I do not believe in these legends but since I am here, I too have thrown the coin and expressed my wish, who knows if it will come true!
Imagine that during the day it is almost impossible to get close to the edge of the fountain, at night it is even possible to caress the water.
But the Trevi Fountain is not the only fountain that can be visited. In every square of the city there is an imposing fountain, fascinating in the accuracy of every detail, from the lions from whose mouth water gushes, sitting almost like guardians against those who want to abuse it.
I have really traveled for many kilometers without ever stopping, every street corner reveals something new and attractive, even the rain is that touch of art that adds extra value to all this beauty.
If you've never been to Rome, now is the time to plan your next trip. And I advise you to discover and relive even the most famous places not only by day but by night, and I am sure that you too will be mesmerized.
