Despite my better judgement I couldn't help but go back to the Kentucky State Fair yesterday. It was hotter than hell, heat index hit 116F (47C), but peak people watching don't last forever and I wanted to do a little sniping with a zoom lens.
Used a 50mm prime lens when I was there last week which was fun, but sometimes getting close enough for that just isn't practical or advisable. Plus a zoom is great for isolating unwilling photo subjects.
Like carnies, they seem to love to have their photo taken.
Usually I ignore the insert-face-here photo ops, they just seem a bit generic and slightly odd. May have to revise that, stumbled upon a new way of taking photos with them. Autofocus does not approve.
Took this one to try and figure out what was going on here. Upon further inspection, I still can't tell you any more than when I snapped it.
Think these folks have got a racket going with my dentist.
Saw this cute couple with their matching outfits and had to get a shot.
Work the fair they said. It'll be fun they said. Whoever made up that 'No Pregnancy' rule obviously doesn't live in a red state.
Kids enjoying themselves AND a rainbow? Shh!!! Don't tell the General Assembly or this ride will be illegal by next year's fair.
Now that is a John Deere shirt that could have only come from Wish...
Everybody's having fun, right?
Would it even be the state fair without selfies in front of the creepy talking inflatable insurance man?
Didn't know it beforehand but this is the shot I was looking for.
Now that's a combo that takes me back to my university days. If a half gallon of bourbon is involved, does it even matter what the food tastes like? Welcome to Kentucky y'all, drive safe now y'hear?
At that speed I don't think the laws against texting and driving apply. Just across the river in Indiana they arrested a guy for DUI in a Power Wheels Jeep earlier this week, so maybe it does count.
"If this doesn't kill you, we've got you covered!"
Who doesn't love corndogs? Mystery meat encased in mystery breading and then deep fried, does it get more American than that?
That's an "I am over this shit" look if I even saw one. Probably a good sign this post is over too. Fair enough.
