Well, we finally got a break from the heat. Now it's just wet. It's been storming off and on since Sunday evening and if the weatherman is to be trusted we've got another week of the same to look forward to.
St. Louis got swamped this morning. That's only a couple hundred miles west of here, which tracks with our rather soggy day.
All this rainy weather made me think of the Rockies. When I was gallivanting there back in the summer of 2017 it rained damn near every day.
Luckily it wasn't all day downpours, just the occasional thunderstorm or three. Just enough to let you know if there were leaks in your waterproofing.
For some reason, between 12:00 and 14:00 was happy hour for thunderstorms. Best time to be on the summit of a mountain, if you like being struck by lightning.
Made lighting a bit tricky but it was fun to watch as the storm clouds formed up.
Less fun was when it got to you. The storms tended to be rather localized, it'd be raining on the mountain you were on and nowhere else.
First place I ever needed sunglasses in the middle of a rainstorm. It'd be pouring the rain and the sun would still manage to shine beneath the clouds.
It's starting to look like rain again here so I'd better wrap this up. Y'all stay dry!
