They get bigger and the parents get sick of feeding them. Get sick of loud pink mouths screaming in their faces to be fed something that mom or dad just picked up off the ground right in front of babe. So mom or dad let 'em starve for an eternity of twenty seconds until at last babe looks down at the ground and says:
Oh. I just pick it up in my beak? Like this? And eat it? It's that easy?
Suddenly they're all proud and confident and picking up everything in sight. Can I eat this kibble? How about this super fast spiderbug? And this twig? Can I eat it, too?
Until about three minutes later when mom or dad unearth a worm or crack open a peanut and the amnesia hits and babe runs screaming helter skelter full panic omfg I haven't eaten in days feedmebitch mode.
And the process repeats.
For months.
