Hello guys!
Is this really it? End of 2021? Already? No, come on that can't be true. But it is. Time flys!
How will you end it? With the firework? That is probably a must. If not your own, you might want to see the one your city is offering or maybe just watch the best fireworks from Dubai, London, Sydney and other famous cities from around the World.
But before the firework will go off, make sure you do one more thing. Create a post with your best memories of the year which is ending. That should be super fun to do! I am sure we all have a ton of photos as we live in the modern World and our smartphones are always by our hands and ready for some clicks. Remember, photos doesn't have to be perfect. They never have to be perfect in our community. Effort and engagement count just as much as great shot. So there is no excuses for you not to write a post as an entry to Photography Lovers End of Year Contest.

Well, it is my turn first to make my entry as well :)
When I was preparing myself for my entry in my mind and I went through all the memories in my head, I actually realized, that this year was the first one since 2013 when I didn't go on any travel! Nada - none! Terrible year looking from that perspective as I just love to travel and tried to travel twice a year. Well, I actually crossed the border to Croatia when I went at the seaside, but that doesn't count as travel in my books. I also had few travels or better say trips within the country and there will be my today's focus. Also these travels were not as frequent as some of the last years. Now that I am thinking of why that happened, I came to the conclusion that there was a mix of things involved. For sure these Covid times which don't want to go away, then it was connected with us moving to a new home as we bought a house at the beginning of the year which was a major financial bite for our family as well. There is a big reason in our new family member, little Anja, who came onto this World at the end of April and we had to adapt our lifestyle a bit. Also my job situation wasn't that stable as in the last years since I was working in tourism sector and you can imagine that things weren't pretty there. So I decided for another life change in this year and quit the job and find the new one. We are often joking that, only thing missing to have completely new life in 2021 is a new car, which might happen since I am now working in automobile industry, but not in 2021 I will leave that for my next year's post.
After a brief summary, let us start with some photos as well. First things first - family! That was my main focus this year and I really don't regret it. I have the nicest family on the World, and I am really happy we get along that great. We are spending much time together and try to have as much fun as possible, so that the kids are growing up in a healthy environment. That will also be the best photos you will see from me in recap of 2021 as I used my camera and put extra effort only to photograph children, I promise I will do better in 2022 and provide some fresh landscape shots as well.
My first shot which I am sharing is from 29th of April, which is a day when Anja was born. I don't have any sufficient house photos, other than that, nothing much was happening to me in the first half of the year. So enjoy the photos of my lovely kids.
Second think from what I will remember this year will be food, or better say BBQ! I finally had a backyard so I can have some fun at it. Before I had a kitchen in my new house, I had my new barbecue ready :)
I bought a Weber and this was my first experience with that kind of barbecue. I used it 50 times at minimum, but number would probably be closer to 75. I tried some different technique, I love baking pizza on it, I also plan to roast some ribs tomorrow for Christmas Eve dinner, even though there is still a little bit of snow on the ground here:) I also create a small fire once on my grass lawn, but it all ended well without firefighters :) I love using it and can't wait for next BBQ season to start! Photography below is just from one of many days outside and I still have a taste of it in my mouth.
I started my domestic travel journey in 2021 with a weekend getaway to Jezerko. That was my first visit of that beautiful place and I have to admit that I set the barrier high for that kind of trips as I could easily vote for this one to be my no. 1 of the year. Nature there is really pretty and this combination of mountains, lake with a lot of greenery is hard to beat. Also tourist farm where we stayed was really awesome, from hospitality to food. Much recommended to do a bookmark as Jezersko is not the most known place in Slovenia, but is really like a hidden gem.
Next on the list we have a trip which we did with the friends and was special in this case, as we usually travel alone. And I have to admit that we really had a great time and it was a welcome boost to hang out with someone when you put your kids to sleep. We were staying at a very nice place near Kamnik, which is a great starting point for many points of interest, inclouding Velika Planina and Arburetum Volčji Potok of which I am showing some photos below.
That was our longest trip as it was to the far north-east part of the country all the way to the Hungarian border. For this travel, I have to say that I was not the most satisfied. We didn't see that many beautiful things and there were quite a lot of driving. Also kids didn't have their best days, so that might influenced on my feeling about it as well. Anyway I am happy that I visited Prekmurje and Pomorje region, as there will probably be some time since I will repeat my travel there.
Summer was ending and so did our summer trips. But hey summer, is not summer without some seaside. I just love that part of the year. I even like packing my bags and loading up a car to go to the coast. Slovenia doesn't have much of it, but neighbour country Croatia has one of the nicest coast in my opinion, so we are spending our main vacation there. This year it was no difference including one of many beautiful sunsets we already witnessed there in the past. But we did an extra stop this time at Slapovi Krke NP, which you can see on the last photo in this section.
You know I can't miss out my lovely Kranjska Gora with its area. This year was no different with many weekend trips to Kranjska Gora and just as many photography made there. But there were even more nice memories created and these can not go away that easy. Looking forward to visit Kranjska Gora during winter time as well, maybe even before the end of the year!
Last, but not least they say...
It was an autumn time, when I signed the contract and just before I started to officially work for a new employer, they send me on a training in Cologne. That was my first business travel, ever and I have to admit that I liked it very much. Probably as that was the longest I went from home this year and I spend one night without my kids. Bed feels different :)
