Ciao, Hivers!
Oh, that means 'Hi, hivers' in Italian, actually, I started learning the language few days ago and I'm totally loving every bit of it😌💃.
First and foremost, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for welcoming me to the hive; I appreciate all of the interactions; they really put me at ease and eliminated all of the 'what if' fears I had previously. You all are incredible, and I am honored to be among you. Grazie( Thank you very much)♥️
So for a few days, I have been pondering on what to write after my introductory post. It's not that I don't have anything to write about; I do. Trust me, I have a lot of things I want to share on hive and I am very excited about it, but I didn't know where to begin, but here I am now😌. I finally decided on an interesting starting point after much deliberation, and I can't wait to tell you more.
yayyyyy🙈
In my previous post, I mentioned that I am a photographer, and I truly am. I began learning photography in January of 2021. I literally enrolled with my last card. After suffering a devastating loss the previous year, I needed to move on with my life (Story for another day, in another beautiful article). I sat down and really thought about what I was passionate about; I'm glad I was able to figure it out.
In my early university days, I used to photograph beautiful landscapes, particularly those of nature. I enjoyed photographing sunsets, trees, leaves, and skies. Wait a minute! Anyone can take pictures of these things and declare that photography is their passion, but for me, it goes much deeper. I'm trying to express how I feel about it, but I can't find the right words😭🥺
Okay, let me try
Photography to me is more than a skill, photography is art, a way of life, a way of seeing things from a totally different perspective. For me, photography is more than what meets the eyes, it is that deep for me. I get emotional when I see beautiful images, or places. I believe I even mentioned this in my introductory post. Okay, enough of my plenty talk, Let me gist you😎
So I learnt photography for about a year. It was not extremely intense because there was school, exams, and what not, but in the midst of it, I learnt it absolutely well. My boss, Immortal Studios, taught me really well, and honestly, he is the G.O.A.T ( Greatest of all time). He always encourage us ( Myself and my colleagues) to put ourselves out there, and give room for growth.
He advised us never to be scared of making mistakes, he would take us through the pages of big photographers and show us where they started from, and how much they grew over time. He is as amazing as I am describing, and I hope and pray I make him proud someday.
I had my first practice shoot ( without assistance ) on January 3rd, 2022. It was an outdoor shoot, my boss lent me his 70D canon camera. The location was in the Federal University Of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), where I attend. I actually felt really nervous at first and the settings in the camera suddenly turned gibberish when I was about to start the shoot😂😂.
Thank God the model is a very good friend, he calmed me down and said these words ...'Its all good if the photos doesn't turn out well, we can always try again'... Not that he didn't believe in me, he didn't want me to be scared of failure. I gathered all the courage I had left in me and started taking the pictures, and as time went by, I gained back my confidence.
I didn't fail on the shoot, although, I had some blurry images😩, but then, I'm glad I didn't chicken out. Plus! I made some really nice images out of the shoot which I would share shortly.
I have a favourite though!🥺, it's a silhouette sunset picture, taken in the golden hour of the day. Here you go...
I would love to know what you think about this image
Here are some more images from the shoot. Before I forget, my photography studio is called ARDOR STUDIOS, and I can be found on Instagram at _
I have taken some other images after then and they are even much better (Growth is inevitable, you know), but they are not that much. I haven't gotten a camera yet, and life, school, business, and other things are still taking up my time. But one thing is certain: I am absolutely sure that I want this. But if I had the money, I'd be a documentary photographer. I would photograph and document people, places, moments, cultures, diversities, and so on. I enjoy seeing things in their natural state, and I plan to write extensively about it later, so please, anticipate😊♥️.
I hope you enjoyed my story and images. Thank you for reading 😊♥️
