For this series of photos that I present to you today, these are images I captured along a small country road during my travels. I found this road so charming with its winding path and tall trees lining it that I had to stop to take pictures. I played with backlights in the series. I enjoy seeing the light piercing through the bare branches of the trees, creating the impression that the world is upside down in the realm of roots. The large spheres in the trees are mistletoe balls. Mistletoe is a parasite that takes root in the bark of trees and extracts their sap. Typically, the tree manages to survive with these guests, but when they become too numerous, the tree loses energy, opening the door to diseases that can decimate it. Soon, spring will return, and the buds will burst open, gracing us with a beautiful light green foliage initially, followed by a much darker green. As a child, I loved riding my bike on such roads, where the trees provided a benevolent shade from the warm summer sun.
This old shed, currently undergoing dismantling, features a generally well-preserved frame, having reached the venerable age of approximately 100 years. I anticipate that the land will soon host a new residence, although it may not endure for such an extended period.
Here is what this small country road inspired in me, even though it may not appear exceptional at first glance. A few bare trees from the surrounding fields and a winding road. I hope that these few photographs have also brought back memories for you. In the meantime, I wish you a wonderful weekend that is approaching rapidly.
