Hello community Photography Lovers.
Today I am going to offer you a series of urban photos. These photos are taken in a small town in France which throughout its history has kept many traces of different periods of urban architecture. The oldest building is shown to you in the first photo. It is a half-timbered house. With a white limestone base, this house is the transition between the all-wood houses of this era and the all-stone houses. At that time, a simple fire in a house could destroy an entire city. To overcome this, they decided to build houses made entirely of stone.
We see that other houses are added to this one and that the others are already much more recent. A big question arises: why have its houses survived 700 years of history ? Its half-timbered houses often belonged to monks. He couldn't afford to rebuild in stone. Maintaining such a house was less expensive and achievable without large resources. Additionally, its houses retained heat better than stone houses. It made sense for them to keep their homes as they were. The climate at that time was harsher than the one we know today in the country.
We are still on the same street but just a little further. Some might tell me it's a ghost town hahaha. I actually waited patiently until the street was empty to take my photos. The time of day also impacts traffic as people are at work.
Most buildings have an apartment housing utility.
A tower made entirely of stone (1365-1370)
A door with a beautiful wrought iron grille
A pigeon hanging around. They are usually gray.
Sorry for the quality of this image I did it judging not being able to take my photo calmly at the time. I was afraid that my pigeon friend would fly away
All my photos were taken in the rain or in very gray weather. There are some rays which pierce the clouds which makes certain photos more contrasted. I have other images to present to you but I have to sort them out, some not being pretty enough for my taste to present.
In the meantime, I thank you for your visit to my blog and for watching my walk of the heritage of this small town of 160,000 inhabitants.
Have a good weekend ahead.
