What are Eating Disorders (ACT)
They are mental disorders that generate pathological behavior against food intake and an obsession with weight control. It is present in all ages regardless of sex or social condition. The cause of them is related by multiple factors: psychological, biological, sociocultural and family.
Those who suffer it suffer alterations at the mental and physical level, and although it is possible to treat them, it is necessary that the affected person undergo medical and psychological treatment that generally tends to be long and complex.
On the other hand, family support is important, since one of the characteristics of the disorders is that the patient is not aware of their disease and therefore cannot identify the consequences.
Among the best known ACTs are: bulimia, anorexia nervosa, orthorexia, binge eating disorder, and vigorexia.
