Last night I had another visit to Fountains Abbey, but it was different to the regular visits as the National Trust had lit it up at night.
I was supposed to have gone last year to this, however the weather was really bad, raining and really windy, a proper storm, thankfully this year the weather was different and it was quite warm.
We managed to get the tickets for the last showing, between 7.30 & 8.00pm entry, I was expecting the car park to be rammed, but there is plenty of parking and it was a breeze.
The above shot created a trend, I saw the shot while walking under the arches in the main part of the abbey, it's just a shame that the light was positioned where it was, anyhow, I took the shot, then my GF decided she liked the shot too, then a photographer heard me talking about it and he walked over and took a shot, and then two women walking passed said, "ooh it is a good shot that, thanks", and they then decided to take a shot too lol. It was quite comical just how quick everyone stole the shot lol.
One of my favourite views of the Abbey, I love this little stone bridge over to it, if you have seen my previous posts about this place, you will know it's absolutely massive in size, I would have loved to have seen this place in it's former glory.
I wasn't sure as to what time the abbey closed, but there was a shot I really wanted to get, so at 8.45 I wandered out around the back of the abbey to get the shot, rushing up the little hill and down the other side, saw a couple of other shots that I grabbed, but had a little jog on as I had a feeling it would be closing soon.
I got to one of the locations, but ideally I should have been further down the river, although not having time I couldn't get that far down, I'm happy with the shot, I only took about 3 or 4 and headed back, as I was heading back, the music stopped, "Shit!" I'm thinking, I'm gonna get locked in here.
I headed back to where I left my GF as she didn't want to come with me, and the staff had cleared everyone out of the building, I'm starting to panic a bit now, anyways we did arrange to meet at the bridge if we separated, thankfully she was there, we then had a steady walk back up the hill to the car.
I had got a bit of sweat on by the time we'd got back lol.
Overall it was a great night, if you are National Trust or English Heritage members, entry is free, otherwise it's £10 per adult.
I really hope you've enjoyed my blog and I hope you've also enjoyed the pictures.
Thanks for reading.
All the best :-)
