Last week I went out with the drone aind camera, my initial idea was to go to Whitby in North Yorkshire, however, it was one of the hotter days of the year and I knew the Whitby Regatta was due to start at any time, and I also knew that due to the weather, the coast would be rammed, as we are also part way through the school summer holidays.
I decided to head to Wentworth, a place I grew up near and still don't live too far from there, and I can get there within 20 minutes from home.
My intention was to shoot video as I am doing small documentaries of the monuments around the Wentworth Estate, starting with Hoober Stand, as I was flying towards the monument, I saw two Kestrels come over the top of it, as soon as I saw them I brought the drone in, they were just to the side of the monument, hovering and doing acrobats in the sky, I can't believe just how agile these birds are, it was mesmorising to watch.
Sadly, I'd left my camera and big lens in the car, but it would have made for some absolutely fantastic shots.
You can view the video here:
As I'd got my big lens on me, I wasn't far from Old Moor which is an RSPB Nature Reserve, I decided to spend the afternoon there and get some shots of some of our feathered friends....
The above shot is a Little Grebe, I'd never seen one of these before, but it is such a cute little bird, it has quickly become one of my favourites.
I wasn't sure what this bird was either but it turns out it was a lapwing spying on me from behind a rock lol.
(Yellow Billed Duck, Mallard)
As I was walking around the nature reserve, there were dragonflies, butterflies and all sorts of insects which was fantastic, as I was heading out I saw this moorhen with it's young right at the side of me, so I had to get some pics and these are my favourites from Old Moor.
I really hope you have enjoyed my shots and stories from the day, and most of all, I hope you like my little documentary.
Thanks for reading and all the best :-)
