Every once in awhile on the hiking trail, you run into little critters like this. A mountain ground squirrel. It is for situations like this that I primarily use a 24-105mm zoom lens, so I don’t miss these opportunities. This was taken at a full 105mm. This little guy (or gal) was hanging out by the lake rocks. I have also included some photos from around Minnestimma lake, and as you can tell, the weather was a bit overcast and the skies somewhat smokey. Not the best conditions for photography, but just had to make the best of it.
