So proud of our daughter
2023 has been a pretty wild year. It has been full of ups and downs, but things are really starting to look up for our family. About 4 months ago, our daughter let us know that she was pregnant and that we were going to become grandparents during the first half of 2024.
Over the past four months, we have gone and gotten ultrasounds every few weeks. When my wife was pregnant with our kids, we couldnt afford to get ultrasounds very often, so it has been cool to help our daughter be able to get frequent ultrasounds so that she can have lots of pictures of her baby as it grows bigger.
When she was like 6 weeks pregnant, we got a blood test done to confirm the gender and found out that she is having a little boy. I am so excited for her to have her little man and watch them become best friends. She is naming him Theo, and he already has the nickname Teddy.
She is planning on doing a home birth and has worked really hard to pay off the birth in advance. My wife and I weren't too familiar with the idea of a home birth and we were actually kind of nervous about it, but after we went to the appointments with her midwives, we have gotten more and more comfortable with the idea.
Traditional births in hospitals can be pretty traumatic, both for the mother and the baby. During a home birth, it is such a more peaceful and beautiful process. It is hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that our grandchild is going to be born in our living room. That is so special to think about.
I am so proud of my daughter and the hard work she has been doing growing her little man. I am grateful that my wife and I are able to be a part of this journey. I missed out on most of my son's pregnancy and I missed all of my daughters, so it has been amazing to be such an important part of this with her. She has been through so much over the past few years and she has done such a great job at staying positive through it all. I can't wait to see her and her baby. She is going to be a great mother.
