This weekend was a Scottish Festival in Payson, Utah. My wife and I have wanted to go to it over the past few years, but we always seemed to have some plans or something the day of the festival. But now that we are empty nesters, our schedule is pretty free, so we decided to make sure we were able to go this year.
It was a pretty cool event. There were people playing traditional Scottish music all over the park. They had several live bands performing and had different areas where people were competing against one another with bagpipes and drums.
The majority of my heritage comes from Scotland, so it is always really cool to hear the bagpipes played live. I don't know what it is, but it always feels familiar to me, like I am hearing something I have known all my life.
I took a lot of pictures during the festival and will be sharing them over the coming days. There were a bunch of people competing in different events like the caber toss and the stone put. There were so many strong men and women competing.
It is always a lot of fun going to something like this and seeing a glimpse into my ancestry. One of these days, my wife and I will finally be able to go travel to Scotland. It has been a dream of ours for so long.
