It's been wild
This winter has been pretty crazy. We are supposed to get snow for the next couple days, and then hopefully we can start spring and we won't get anymore snow until next winter.
I trimmed up the trees in my backyard over the weekend and the branches I cut look pretty cool with a fresh layer of snow on them. I was going to have a company come in and trim these trees up, but they wanted $1700 to trim three trees, so I just decided to do it myself. I bought a tree trimmer from Costco and it seems to be working well. I still have some more trimming that I will do once the snow is gone. It will be nice to have a bunch of fresh firewood for summer fires.
My little apple tree is covered in snow. I went out and brushed the snow off and I think the tree is going to be fine. Everything I read said that this is the perfect time to plant these trees because the tree will be focusing on creating a nice root system and it isn't focusing energy on budding and new branch growth. I am slowly getting my green thumb with something other than cannabis, lol.
Everything looks so peaceful with a fresh layer of snow. The tree on the right has so much new growth on it this year that it looks like it is glowing.
My neighborhood looks like a winter wonderland. I am glad that there isn't much snow on the ground here right now because the roads are still pretty clear. Later this afternoon, the storm is supposed to get stronger and we may see some pretty bad road conditions.
So far this year, we have gotten so much snow. Last year, one of the ski resorts got a total of 323 inches. We are over 800 inches at that resort now and expected to get more snow up there. In 1983, we got a lot of snow late into spring and then it warmed up within a week or so and it started to flood pretty bad in Salt Lake City and the surrounding area.
I am in a higher elevation area than that, so I dont think we will see flooding where I am, but I have a feeling that once the snow starts melting on the mountains, things are going to get crazy here. Too bad I crashed my drone a few months ago and I won't be able to get any aerial shots of flooding.
This winter seems like it has gone on forever and we are so ready for bright skies and warmth. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot too fast here. Then I will be wishing for winter again.
