Getting fat
I am coming up to the finish line and things are starting to progress faster and faster. Over the past week, the buds on all the plants have really started to swell and thicken up.
The White Widow is still my best looking plant and I cannot wait to try this one out. The buds look very similar to the GDP and I am super excited to start trimming this one soon. I think I may get close to a half pound from this plant, which will be crazy.
The AK47 is starting to thicken up as well, and I think it will continue to get a little bit fatter. I am not expecting big things from this plant though. The buds are not as thick and are quite airy, but that could just be how this plant forms its buds.
I really like how the leaves look on this one. The AK47 seems like it is a lot more delicate than the others. It has more of the traditional sativa look than the two others do because of its long dainty leaves.
The Purple Haze it a thick dense mess. I am not a fan of how these buds look, but I think that is probably because the netting blocks the view of the buds and there are a lot of leaves all over.
This weekend, I am going to go in and defoliate all of the plants for the final time before harvest. That will make trimming a lot easier later on, but I really want to open things up in the tent and allow more light to penetrate all of the buds. I have found that keeping a lot of leaves on my plants has really allowed them to gather the light needed to create some really good looking buds and increase my harvest.
I am no longer going to be giving my plants any nutrients, which will force the plants to pull all remaining nutrients from the leaves, which should give these plants some really cool colors.
Over the next couple weeks, I will begin paying close attention to the color of the trichomes. One thing I hate about the net is that I cant wait my plants out of the tent to get super close shots. I really like getting close up shots without the bright walls of the tent so I can use my flash and turn the whole background black.
The trichomes on these plants are starting to become milky and I think I am going to harvest them a bit earlier than I do with my indicas. I don't want these plants to have as much amber on them since they are sativas and I would prefer to get more of a head high from these and less body effects. The ability to kind of customize the effects of your plants is one of my favorite aspects of growing my own cannabis.
It is going to be an interesting next couple weeks. Hopefully trimming all these plants wont take too long. I am hoping for close to a pound of bud from these three. It is going to be a pretty nice harvest. I am ready to take a short break from growing once these are done. I have a lot of work in the grow room to get it ready for the next grow.
