Last night, I went with my daughter and her boyfriend to see Polyphia perform in Salt Lake City. The concert was at a much smaller venue than any of other concerts we have been to recently. We got there about 2 hours before the show started, and it was a good thing because the show was sold out and it got pretty packed in there.
The concert info had no mention of an opening band, but when we got in there, we saw they were selling merch for a band named Unprocessed. No one in the concert seemed to have heard of them, and when they took the stage, we really had no idea if they would be good or not.
When they first started, the singer's microphone was not working, so I automatically figured these guys would suck. But holy shit, I was totally wrong about that. These guys absolutely killed it live.
They are super technical musicians. They sounded a lot like Polyphia, but they actually have lyrics and sing along with amazing guitar skills. The singer reminded me Deftones, Taproot and Flaw.
As you can see from their music video, these dudes have some serious skills. It was crazy that none of us have heard of them, but between songs, the bass player told us that they are from Germany and this is their first time touring the US. I really think these guys have a huge future ahead of them because they are some of the most skilled musicians I have ever seen. Normally bands don't sound so good live, especially when they have super technical guitars, but these guys didn't seem to miss any notes.
They were one of the best opening bands I have ever seen and probably the perfect band to open up for Polyphia. I have been listening to them pretty much all day today and we all can't wait to see them perform again. It was such an amazing night.
