Recently, at the end of the month, I visited a hospital for an eye check-up. I was very glad to see the facilities available inside the hospital. The way the doctors were taking care of the patients was impressive. The nurses were doing their work very peacefully and professionally. I would also like to mention the reception area, where I found quite a rush. However, security guards and volunteers were present to control the crowd, which seemed like a good system.
The way they were doing their jobs very efficiently was quite respectful and impressive. After observing all these things, I noticed that the waiting area was quite long and crowded. This made me realize that in a country like ours, we can never say that we have too many doctors, because there is always someone who becomes ill every minute. If we talk about India, which is one of the largest and most populated countries in the world, the demand for doctors will always remain high.
Coming back to the topic, if we talk about equipment and facilities, they were generally good. However, when it comes to very large and complex machines, the situation is not as good. As we know, MRI machines are very expensive, and it is not easy to place them in every government hospital. Apart from this machine, most of the other medical equipment was available and the quality of health check-ups was good.
How did I know that the MRI machine was not available in this hospital? Due to some issues during the doctor’s consultation, my mother needed to get an MRI scan done from outside the hospital. I asked why it was not available there, and they told us that the machine was not present in the hospital and that we would need to go to a private hospital.
After observing everything, I realized that the behavior of the staff and doctors was very good and respectful towards patients and their family members. I was impressed by the respect they showed. I have seen many hospitals where doctors shout at patients, do not treat them well, scold them in front of others, judge them by their clothes, or even body shame them. Both of these were government hospitals, but the difference was that one treated people with respect while the other tried to dominate and make patients feel inferior.
All doctors are not the same. Some are very kind and respectful. There are many myths about government hospitals. I would like to clarify that many of them provide good treatment, and in many cases medical facilities are available free of cost.
