Photography Lovers End of Year Contest

Happy New Year!
The year 2021 is coming to an end. Although it's been a tumultuous year in the world, I believe we all had a great year on Hive. And thanks to the Photogaphy Lovers community for organizing this amazing contest to give us a chance to look back on our past year. There's nothing better than looking back at what we've done in the past year through the photos we've taken, right? In the past year, I also took a lot of photos. I have to admit that picking out my favorite photos from the past year was a tough job for me. But in the end I did. I hope you like them too. I decided to choose photos according to my favorite topics, and in each topic I chose 3 photos. Okay, I won't keep you waiting any longer.

`PHOTOS OF MYSELF`

First let me start with photos of myself. Although the pandemic has had a huge impact on my life in general and my work in particular over the past year, I still have had some great trips.

This is a photo from my trip to discover the Northernmost region of Vietnam.

I was on a trip to explore the mountainous area of Hoa Bac between Da Nang and Hue.

I was standing on top of the 300m high Do Quyen Waterfall in Bach Ma National Park, Hue.

`MY LIFE FRIEND`

Below are some of my favorite portraits I took of my wife, a very important person behind me and my travel companion.

`MY PETS`

And it would be remiss not to mention the other companions of my many travels, my two dogs, Meow Meow and Ba Du. Take a look at these photos and you will understand that they eagerly follow me everywhere.

`PORTRAITS OF OTHER PEOPLE`

One of my favorite subjects during my travels is people. By meeting and talking with them, I have learned a lot of interesting things.

The smile of an elderly H'Mong ethnic minority has taught me lessons about a simple and happy life. She has lived a very simple and peaceful life in a remote mountainous area.

While this peasant woman helped me better understand the value of labor and optimism. Although she has a hard life attached to the rice fields every day, she is always optimistic and loves life.

This is a photo I took at the children's graduation ceremony earlier this year. It is a rare opportunity for children to meet and have fun with their friends. Then, because of social distancing, they have had to stay at home and study online throughout the year.

`WORKING PEOPLE`

Working people is also a favorite topic of mine. They have inspired me so much to continue my work.

These fishermen usually wake up around 4 am to catch fish for the morning market.

Because of the Covid pandemic situation, all shops have to close, everyone is staying at home. These peddlers became extremely important. They work day and night to ensure a food supply for everyone.

This is a photo I took of a boy casting a net to catch fish for his family's meal in a forest stream in Gia Lai.

ADVENTURES

Over the past year, I have done a number of adventures with friends.

This is a trip to discover a hidden beach in Xoan peninsula located between Da Nang and Hue.

We were hiking through the jungle at Hai Van Pass to discover the remote Banana Beach.

I and my foreign friends were exploring the primeval forest in Son Tra peninsula.

`CAMPING`

Camping is an activity I really enjoy, it helps me to live close to nature and have a good time with friends.

This is the camping trip on Hai Van peak for me and my friends. You can see clouds passing over our heads.

This is another camping trip next to a stream near Mui Trau tunnel in Da Nang.

And this is another fun camping trip that I had with my friends at Cu De river in Hoa Bac mountains.

`REFLECTIONS`

Reflection is one of my favorite photography styles.

This is Pagoda Bridge, a symbol of Hoi An ancient town.

This is a photo I took at a lake in a mountainous town in Nghe An province early in the morning.

This is The Huc Bridge and Ngoc Son Temple in Sword Lake in Ha Noi at night.

`BLACK AND WHITE`

Another of my favorite photography styles is black and white.

This is an abandoned park in Thien An hill of Hue. This park has been abandoned for a long time and is in a serious state of disrepair. That's why I thought white and black would be the right tones for this photo.

Another photo that I think goes well with black and white is a photo of a street in Hoi An. Normally, Hoi An ancient town is always busy and bustling because it is a famous tourist destination of Vietnam. But due to the impact of the pandemic, it became unusually deserted.

This is a photo I took of a man from a tribe living in the deep forest of Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve in Gia Lai province.

`NATURE`

As a nature lover, nature photos are always in my collections.

This is a terraced field in the ripe rice season in the mountainous district of Que Son in Quang Nam province.

The famous Tu San Canyon on the legendary Nho Que River in Ha Giang province.

Swallows are flying over the primeval forest in Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve in the early morning.

`MOUNTAINS`

Mountainous terrain is a common terrain in Vietnam, so mountains are also a favorite subject of my photography.

`WATERFALLS`

K50 - Sleeping fairy in the forest at Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve, Gia Lai province. It can be said that this is the most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen so far.

Another fairy named Khe Lim, it is a 7-level waterfall located deep in the forest in Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province.

And certainly I must include Do Quyen, a 300m high waterfall in Bach Ma National Park, Thua Thien Hue province.

`STREAMS`

This is Khe Ram, a stream in the Hoa Bac mountains in Danang. This is one of my favorite places in the summer.

Another favorite stream of mine in the Hoa Bac mountains in Danang is Khe Duong with its cool water flowing all year round.

And a stream that is very popular with my foreign friends, Peach Slide. Maybe because it is located deep in the forest, to get here we have to hike quite a long time and we can slide on a cliff here. That's why people give it that name.

`RIVERS`

This is Hoai River in Hoi An ancient town in flood season.

This is the legendary river Nho Que. If you travel to Ha Giang, you should definitely not miss this place.

And finally the Han River in Da Nang city where I live. It is also the symbol of the city.

`LAKES`

This is Hoa Trung lake, a large natural lake in the mountains of Hoa Bac, Danang. It is surrounded by mountains. This is a great camping and SUP rowing spot with beautiful views and flat water.

This is Ho Xanh lake, it is called the pearl of Son Tra peninsula because its water is always green. In the distance, you can see the beautiful My Khe beach and Da Nang city.

And this is Sword Lake, it is considered the heart of Hanoi Capital. It is located in the heart of Hanoi and it is also the focus of cultural, art and entertainment activities.

`BEACHES`

Beautiful Lang Co beach and romantic Lap An lagoon in Thua Thien Hue province seen from Hai Van pass.

This is a beautiful, blue and clean beach in Cham Island thanks to the local people's high awareness of environmental protection. It deserves to be the pearl of the East Sea.

And this is Ghenh Bang beach, a hidden beach in Son Tra peninsula. Here, there are beautiful sandy beaches, colorful coral reefs and majestic cliffs with green forests in the background.

`PLANTS`

I am also a plant lover, so plants have also become a favorite subject of my photography.

This is a coconut tree in the coconut forest at Lang Van beach, a hidden beach at the foot of Hai Van pass.

This is a lonely rice flower tree in the middle of an vast rice field in Quy Hop, a mountainous district in Nghe An province.

And this is a banyan tree in Son Tra peninsula. It is over 1000 years old.

`ANIMALS`

And certainly animals are also a favorite subject of my travels.

Cows are grazing and enjoying in a suburb of Da Nang city.

Buffalo - symbol of Vietnamese agriculture.

A white buffalo - A rare breed of Vietnamese buffalo.

`FIELDS`

This is a flower field on the outskirts of Hanoi city

This is a flower hill in the flower meadow in Long Bien district, Hanoi.

`RAIN`

Watching the rain is one of my hobbies, so it's no wonder it's become one of my favorite photography subjects.

`WAVES`

Watching the ocean waves also gives me relaxation and peace, so it's also my favorite photo subject.

`CITY`

And of course I live in Da Nang city, so I can't miss it in my favorite photos.

Thuan Phuoc Bridge in the early morning - It is the longest suspension bridge in Vietnam.

Dragon Bridge - The symbol of Da Nang city. It breathes fire and water each Saturday and Sunday night at 9 pm.

And this is the legendary Han River of our city. It is considered the lifeblood of the city. High-rise buildings continue to grow along both banks of this river.

`STREETS`

Wandering the streets and seeing the sights is one of my hobbies, so I also take a lot of photos on the street. I especially enjoy photographing bicycles full of flowers, which add beauty to the city.

`SUNRISE`

I think this is also a favorite subject of photography lovers.

Sunrise at Nguyen Tat Thanh beach right near my house.

Sunrise at Hoai River - Hoi An ancient town.

Sunrise at Hai Van Vien beach - A hidden beach at the foot of Hai Van pass.

`SUNSET`

And of course sunset is also a favorite topic of mine.

I was lying on the grass watching the sunset while I was camping.

Sunset at West Lake - The most beautiful place to watch the sunset in Hanoi.

Sunset in my hometown, Dak Lak province, in my opinion, I can admire the most beautiful sunset there. In the photo are my wife and I.

Phewww... I've finally finished picking out my favorite photos from the past year. Maybe I missed some other photos, but I did my best. Hope you enjoy these photos too. I also look forward to seeing other Hivers collections. Thank you for taking the time to view my collection. 🙏
