Francesca is a 15-year-old girl who had her photos taken for her party. She wasn’t particularly excited about the session, but her father wanted her to have these pictures. When you’re a teenager, you don’t really understand what time will bring. It’s only then that you start to notice and remember how people look, capturing those fleeting moments in your mind.

I was a problematic teenager. I skipped classes, didn’t like school, and had no idea what to study back then—nothing motivated me. I didn’t take many pictures of myself either. Nowadays, when I look at the few photos I have, I regret not taking more. It would be lovely to have them now, to look back and see who I was.
Yo fui un adolescente problemático. No asistía a clases, no me gustaba el liceo, y no tenía idea de qué estudiar en ese entonces; nada me motivaba. Tampoco me tomé muchas fotos. Today, with a mobile phone, it’s easier to capture moments. The cameras are decent and allow us to preserve memories more "faithfully," whether it’s about how we looked or the experiences we had. Professional photography, however, stands in a unique spot: it faces both extremely high and surprisingly low levels of expectation.
Ahora, con un teléfono móvil, es más fácil capturar momentos. Las cámaras son más accesibles y permiten guardar recuerdos de forma más "fiel," ya sea de nuestra apariencia o nuestras experiencias. Francesca probably doesn’t understand the value of the memories we created today. But I hope that, in the future, she’ll appreciate these photos and what they represent.
