As it's nearly Halloween and I woke up to a foggy day, there was only one thing to do, and that was to go for a walk through the forest and get some proper exercise.
It's a place where the fog really clings to the trees. There were only a few dog walkers about, so I mostly had the place to myself. There was a strong sound of nothingness. It was so quiet.
People's bushcraft skills just get better. I never see anyone build them, though. They just appear.
After walking through one forest, I walked down the footpath, hoping to find some fungi. It got quite muddy in parts, and my walking boots had started to let wet in. I'm surprised I haven't got foot rot by now.
I did find a few, but a lot was growing in the dense forest, so they were difficult to get to never mind take photographs. I did my best, though.
The footpath got less muddy. I stopped to take a photo of this tree when suddenly a couple and their dog suddenly appeared in my viewfinder. Scared me death. I didn't realise there was an opening to another footpath to my right that they'd come out of. Anyway, they were very friendly, not the mad axe people I initially thought.
It was very gloomy but very atmospheric. I liked the little pockets of colours from the leaves on the trees.
After doing a circular walk, I set off back to the car before the rain set in.
