Our walk started at the car park at Grindleford Station Cafe. Car parking was only £2 for the day, so we couldn't grumble at that.

We make our way past the cafe and over the railway bridge with Totley Tunnel on our right.

Once over the bridge, we squeezed our way through the stone stile, which then took us into the bottom of Pàdley Gorge.

Here, we walked along the Burbage Brook. It was quite muddy and slippy in parts. Lots of mossy boulders just added to the charm of the place.

The higher we got, the dryer it became underfoot. A few more photographers were out as the wood is very photogenic, and it's also where the goblins, elves, and sprites live, which also makes it more interesting. 😉

It was much better when we climbed to the top and came to the footpath. On both sides of the path there is a dense forest and quite stunning. This place has been described with many superlatives, such as 'enchanted' and 'magical', and you can see why when you come here.

To say how wet it's been, there were only a few clumps of fungi about but still interesting nonetheless.

After a little mooch at the top of the woods, we followed the footpath back down. The holly reminded me of Christmas.
