One of my favourite walks is a flat circular walk in a local forest. You can also extend the walk by crossing over the road and through other varied wooded areas.
We've had our first morning ground frost in the last couple of days, so the weather has certainly changed. However, we did wait until it thawed before we set off.
The good news is that the fungi has started to come through nicely. It won't be long before my favourite fly agaric will be strutting its stuff!
You always get some random stone wall in the middle of woodlands. They've obviously got some story to tell. There is a country lane next to the woods, and apparently, it is haunted. If you believe in this sort of thing, a headless horseman was seen in the 1990s. Personally, I've seen nothing, but I definitely won't be coming here after dusk!
The sun tried its best to break through the trees. Hope it wards of the ghosts!
Nobody else was about. Perhaps the cold air had put people off. After we did the full circuit it started to get chilly so we hot footed it back to the car and back into the warmth.
