this series is taken at bratten, which is norwegian for the steep spot.
the shots are mostly single images extracted from 4K shots in the beginning of august. the quality is not top notch as there were several challenges, especially the high contrast and heavy shadows combined with fast motion so i hesitated in posting them. i finally decided that with some editing the fun and drama in the shots outweigh the lack of sharpness and detail so i took the plunge.
observing from a distance and measured in seconds it doesn't seem like much but there is far more going on that happens so fast it is impossible to process even for the ones taking the 8 m spree.
for the adventurous daredevils there is a 12 m cliff nearby but not many live their lives with reckless abandon, most are more measured when they live it up. luckily for these there are two platforms here. the 5.5 m one is somewhat less intimidating than the 8 m but still thrilling enough
even the 5.5 m is a bit much for many who think they will have a go. when they approach the edge and look down their stomachs send a message to their heads declaring that maybe this is not such a good idea. maybe next year, or maybe even tomorrow...
abridged, they turn around and go back down to the 2 m duck soup board for the common bathers.
all the more admiration to those who dare
it won't be long until this girl is the one in the air
catching a thrill
last year when i took the dive the impact of hitting the water tore my veteran bathing suit. back and heart issues deterred me this year so next summer, after i retire i will opt for the feet first. meanwhile now that summer has past i am content with the view, particularly at sunset
