Over the years I've been on Hive, I remember I was always happy to go photo hunting during autumn as it's one of my favorite seasons, due to the wonderful color palette nature creates during these couple of months. Knowing your neighborhood is a must and knowing the places that offer you the best scenes for your work can save you from wondering around aimlessly, but even so, sometimes you bump into scenes that come as a gift.
I remember one year we had a storm at the end of October, before All Saints Day. After the storm passed, I had to go to the cemetery, where one of my great aunts is resting, to bring some flowers and to my surprise, the storm brought down all the leaves from the trees and as the cleaning crew had no time to cover all the area, the ground was covered by leaves and the whole place looked like a colorful carpet. What a wonderful gift it was.
This scene was this year's gift for me from nature. It was a miracle because usually streets are cleaned regularly and you don't find pedestrian walkways covered by leaves, not even if you go looking for some, but for some reason, there it was.
Lucky me, there was no one walking there, so I took a few shots and said thank you mother nature. I love the radiant, golden light the leaves give the photo.
No luck for such golden leaf carpet here, but it still looks nice once you walk down this alley.
This was another lucky shot, a gift from mother nature. I don't really like staged scenes, but this had no staging at all. I'm not sure if there's water there during summer, but now the whole place looked abandoned and the fallen leaves just added to the feeling.
The funny thing is, when these trees and bushes are green, not many are paying attention to them. Once they change color, they are starting to be attractive. This is the case with this bush. I have no idea what bush it is, how it is called, although I'm passing by it quite often.
Another thing I like to photograph during autumn, besides, golden, rusty leaves, is late flowers. Depending on the climate, of course, but in Transylvania we have the chrysanthemums during autumn, which can resist even till the snow arrives, but roses can resist early autumn cold as well.
This photo was taken on the 13th of November and this rose was still looking good.
Kind of felt sorry for those fresh buds and there was no way they had time to open in normal conditions. As you can see, some of the bigger, fully opened flowers got bitten by frost.
Some of you may be wondering why did I take this photo, or what is there to look at. Well, there's beauty in withered flowers as well, if you can see it.
Back on the legacy chain, there was a guy from Iceland, who had a tag, or a challenge regarding withered flowers and plants. He was a very good photographer, but unfortunately he's not active anymore. That's when I started paying attention to these flowers, plants, that were past their beauty period, and started taking photos of them. You can capture some really interesting petals, dry leaves or buds.
Problem is, people only see the obvious and can't even try to see beauty in anything else. While I was taking these photos, a few people were passing by, looking at me, like I was some kind of weirdo, taking photos of frozen and withered flowers. Not that it bothers me as I couldn't care less and I know it's their loss. Living with tunnel vision has its disadvantages and losses, they just don't know it.
Now tell me, am I the only weirdo here? 😆
