It's time for another art exhibition post as my last was ages ago 😂 Wait, was it? No, it was yesterday, but you can never have enough of art, at least that's what I think. The end of the year is coming, so I need to use the time wisely and visit what I can as during the holidays, most likely everything will be closed. The other reason is, some of the exhibitions are ending with the year.
Today I'm going to show you some amazing paintings, by a local painter called Lajos Czirjék. He's a well known artist in Targu Mures (Marosvásárhely), his paintings are not cheap, but you'll see why. As always, I went tot the exhibition without any expectations as that's the best if you don't want to get disappointed, but kind of knew what to expect anyway as have seen a few artworks from the artist and knew his style.
The exhibition is hosted by the Unitarian church of Targu Mures (Marosvásárhely). The church has an impressive building, that dates back to 1930.
On the facade, there's this sculpture, featuring Ferenc Dávid who
was a Unitarian preacher from Transylvania, the founder of the Unitarian Church of Transylvania, and the leading figure of the Nontrinitarian movements during the Protestant Reformation. source
The exhibition is hosted in the boardroom of the church, which is not a big one, but it's nice. What I like about these church exhibitions is the atmosphere. As usual, the church is a holy place and there's always quiet there. There are not many visitors, if any, so I can enjoy my time alone with the artworks. No one is rushing me.
Autumn Landscape
This was the first painting and I already loved as soon as I saw it. This was the smallest painting, a 25cmx25cm, by my estimation. This is not just an exhibition, you can buy the paintings at the end of the exhibition, if you like. This one was listed at 50euro. The most expensive was at 300euro, but those were way bigger, I'd say at a normal size.
Spots of Light
What I love about these paintings is that they are so lifelike. I did not use the flash of the camera, I never do out of respect for the artworks, s the light may be a bit funny, but even so, to me, this landscape looks like a very real one.
Lady Ana's House
As I always do, after viewing all the artworks, I did another tour and tried to decide which one I would buy. This was one of them. This is a scene you see in most of the Transylvanian villages. A farmhouse built of adobe, sometimes the roof is made of shingle or straw, the fence is made of wood. The older generation most likely have already passed away and usually these houses are already abandoned.

Beautifying Lights 2
Another house, that means more than just a house. For those people living in such a house, this, the land surrounding the house and the livestock they have means their whole life. If I look at the painting like this, I don't necessarily see the colors and shapes, but the hard work and the sorrow. There was no luxury in their life, only hard work to make a living. I don't know if I can put that in words.
Silence
This was another one that I would be glad to own. For those of you who are not familiar with Transylvanian village life, this is a fortress church, build on a hill for defense purposes. Life has not been easy in this region, there have been historical fights along the decades and centuries. Most of the Transylvanian settlements have a fortified church. I love this! The colors are just perfect and the scene as well.
Sovata Landscape
Sovata is a smaller city in Mures county, best known for its lake and spas. It's a famous tourist destination all year round. This landscape however, is about nature. This may look shocking or more like shouting for you due to the colors, but it is one of my favorites because I love these colors. I don't think I can tell you how much I love these colors. You can find similar scenes during autumn and if there's a lake around, you can get the effect doubled due to the reflections.
Chibed's Market Square
While searching for the Romanian name of the village (it is written on the label but most likely I'm too tired at this time 😂), I came across a photo of the village on Wikipedia.
Turns out this is the Reformed Church of Chibed. The houses are a bit different on the photo, but the church is legit. Centuries ago, every village had a square, a main square that served not only for meetings but also for organizing markets. There were no shops in villages, so these squares had an important role in people's life.
Rusty Autumn
October Landscape
From artistic point of view, this is also a masterpiece. It's so lifelike. Again, it features an old, crumbling village house, from the previous century, with wooden gate, that is also about to fall down. However, I could not hang this on my wall as what I see by looking at it is the passed time and the pain. That house was built with hard work and a lot of sacrifices.
Jebucu Landscape
A scene you can see live around here is you leave the city, but this is a village in Sălaj county.
Forest Road
Visiting this exhibition was like entering another dimension, another world that is not available right now. It's a travel in time and space. What is fascinating in this is the image it creates in your head and the feelings you are left with, by looking at the paintings. This is the penultimate exhibition of this year for me, but one of the best for sure. Today I was thinking about how lucky I am and I'm really grateful for having so many opportunities in life and for free.
These exhibitions are not only beautiful, but have a strange effect on me. The more paintings I see, the more I feel the need to start creating my own painting, a project that I have in mind. This week I had a look at the supply, to see how much I would need as I have zero idea honestly. Is till have to watch some videos about how to mix the paintings to see what I need, but next week most likely I'll be coming home with the necessary supplies for my masterpiece 😂 So buckle up as we're going for a bumpy ride. There will be an interesting story, with a lot of laughter. The good thing about me is that I am able to laugh about my failures, it doesn't discourage me. However, there's no room for failure here as the supplies are not cheap. This is not pencil and paper anymore. No pressure, huh? 😂 Anyway, no pain, no gain, right?
So, you know the drill, let's see, which one do you like today?
