Indonesia - Initially the impact of the pandemic of the new type of corona virus (COVID-19) was noisy in cities, especially big cities, but now it has exposed its effects to rural communities.
The speed at which it spreads is not limited to a virus that disrupts human health and causes casualties, but also all kinds of information related to it, especially on social media which is almost uncontrollable.
All information and viral news in the form of text, audio, video, infographics, posters, and other information technology-based creative products are scattered through social media on various platforms that are uploaded and shared by almost every smartphone holder.
Village itself has four areas or what is often referred to as hamlets, the first hamlet Jatiteken, the second hamlet Karangdempel, the third hamlet Siampel and the fourth hamlet Jurangmangu.
Klareyan Village is also directly adjacent to another village, next door
Pegundan village in the south, Loning village in the west, Nyamplungsari village north, and Kendaldoyong in the east. The location of the Klareyan village area has a very good economy.
The large area of rice fields is the work of the village community in the field of agriculture, not only rice farming, there are also Klareyan villagers who work as laborers and do duck farming in their village.
However, now the people of Klareyan village are mostly working overseas. In fact, more work outside the region because they earn money faster.
The impact of the covid pandemic in the economic sector makes it difficult for rural people to fulfill their daily lives. In Klareyan village, with a fairly good economy in agriculture and livestock and small home industries, there is a very drastic decrease in income.
In Klareyan village two months ago the rice harvest was high, along with the Covid 19 outbreak. Even though the main rice harvest in the village, the cheap price of unhulled rice made farmers confused, some were sold to rice masters and most of the harvest was brought home for sufficient for daily needs. Apart from the impact of the farmers in Klareyan village, it is also felt by duck breeders who have experienced a decline in the economic sector.
Without immediate action, the current situation caused by COVID-19 could have long-term consequences for the safety, welfare and future of children in Indonesia. This was stated by UNICEF in its recently published position statement on the social and economic impacts of the pandemic and recommendations for addressing them.
The position statement entitled COVID-19 and Children in Indonesia: Agenda for Action to Overcome Socio-Economic Challenges, provides evidence that the Corona virus has largely destabilized the income of Indonesian families - most of them not covered by social security systems that target communities in extreme poverty.
However, a sudden loss of work and income can lead to a situation of poverty for millions of children. This threatens the performance of nutrition, education and child protection as well as exacerbates existing disparities related to gender, income and vulnerable groups such as children with disabilities.
"Even after the pandemic, children across Indonesia will continue to feel the impact for years to come," said UNICEF Representative Debora Comini.
The UNICEF representative also added "If we do not act from now on to tackle the social and economic impacts of the pandemic, the health crisis can become a wider crisis that hinders, even causes setbacks, from the progress of the condition of children that Indonesia has achieved through years of hard work. -year."
The report also notes that, prior to the pandemic, Indonesia was already facing the burden of malnutrition in three forms — malnutrition, hidden hunger due to a lack of essential nutrients, and overweight in the under-five age group. This condition can worsen with loss of income and limited access to healthy food. As a result, not only can the stunting rate increase, the prevalence of obesity has the potential to increase due to the consumption of ultra-processed foods with high sugar, salt and fat content.
